Child Resource Connect creates healthy and nurturing environments for children by supporting their families and educating their caregivers. Each year, CRC provides family support services to more than 1,500 families and training to more than 2,000 childcare providers, parents, and human services workers. CRC operates out of locations in Adelphi, Largo and Annapolis, Md., and in 2025, expanded services into Calvert, Charles, and St. Mary’s Counties. Since its founding in 1990, CRC has served nearly half a million children through home visits, child development education, links to community services, and adult education.
CRC celebrates the impactful leadership of its outgoing executive director, Jennifer Iverson. Under her direction, Child Resource Connect expanded its reach and impact, strengthening support systems for children, families, childcare providers, and communities throughout Prince George's County and beyond. She oversaw significant organizational growth, expanded programs and partnerships, and guided the organization's transition and rebranding to Child Resource Connect.
Iverson began her career as an early childhood educator and literacy advocate before joining Child Resource Connect in 2001. Over the past 25 years, she has served in numerous leadership roles, including Program Manager for Early Reading First, Development Director, Deputy Director, and Executive Director. Since becoming executive director in 2016, Iverson has led a wide range of initiatives benefiting young children, families, and childcare providers throughout Maryland. She currently serves as co-chair of the Prince George's Early Childhood Advisory Council, a member of the Prince George's County Cabinet for Children and Youth, and a board member of Maryland Family Network.
"It has been the honor of a lifetime to serve Child Resource Connect and the families, providers, partners, staff, and community members who make this work possible," said Iverson. "Together, we have expanded programs, strengthened partnerships, and helped thousands of children and families access the resources they need to succeed. I am incredibly proud of what we have accomplished and confident that Nii is the right leader to carry this mission forward. His commitment to families, collaborative leadership style, and passion for community impact make him the perfect person to guide Child Resource Connect into the future."
"On behalf of the Board of Directors, we extend our deepest gratitude to Jennifer Iverson for her 25 years of dedicated service and transformative leadership of Child Resource Connect. Following a thoughtful and thorough search process, we are thrilled to welcome Nii Sowah as our next executive director,” said Shari Davis, chair of the Child Resource Connect Board of Directors, who led the executive search process on behalf of the board. “Nii's deep commitment to strengthening families and communities, combined with his proven leadership experience, make him exceptionally well-positioned to build upon Jennifer's remarkable legacy and lead the organization into its next chapter."
Newly appointed executive director Nii Sowah brings more than 20 years of leadership experience across the nonprofit and public sectors, with expertise in strategic planning, operations, community development, family support services, and organizational management. A graduate of Morgan State University with a bachelor's degree in business management and the University of Baltimore with a Master of Public Administration, Sowah has held leadership positions with the Baltimore City Department of Social Services, the Center for Urban Families, Bon Secours Community Works, and Enterprise Community Development. Throughout his career, he has led initiatives focused on family stability, workforce development, early childhood education, supportive services, and community empowerment.
"I am devoted to serving youth and families and helping create the conditions that allow children to thrive," said Sowah. "Child Resource Connect has an extraordinary reputation for strengthening families, supporting caregivers, and improving outcomes for children. I am honored to join this talented team and build upon the organization's strong foundation as we continue expanding our impact in the communities we serve."
