Baltimore by Baltimore Expands With New “BxB Unplugged” Live Music Series at Bond Street Wharf
Special to the Baltimore TimesBaltimore’s waterfront will become an intimate stage for local music, makers and community connection this summer as Waterfront Partnership expands its Baltimore by Baltimore festival series with a new weekly program, BxB Unplugged.
Launching during Waterfront Week, BxB Unplugged will take place every Thursday in June from 4 to 7 p.m. at Bond Street Wharf, located at 910 Bond Street at Thames Street. Music will begin each week at 5 p.m. The series is free and open to the public.
Designed as a more intimate extension of the larger Baltimore by Baltimore festival experience, BxB Unplugged will bring live music, local vendors, food and neighborhood culture into waterfront parks across the city. The June series will celebrate Black Music Month with performances highlighting the music of Black composers and the creative influence of Baltimore’s artists and musicians.
The inaugural June series will be produced by Keystone Korner Jazz, the acclaimed Baltimore jazz venue led by Todd Barkan. The lineup will feature acclaimed jazz vibraphonist Warren Wolf on June 4, Baltimore School for the Arts on June 11, vocalist and songwriter Eylscia on June 18, and award-winning saxophonist Brent Birckhead on June 25.
Each Thursday event will also feature local makers, food vendors and community partners. Vendors throughout the series will include Greedy Reads, Kelley Gardens, El Supremo Records and others. Food and beverages will be available for purchase from vendors including Soul Smoked, Taharka Brothers and Bar by Keystone.
Since its launch in 2022, Baltimore by Baltimore has created a platform for local artists, musicians, makers and food vendors to showcase the city’s creativity and culture along the waterfront. BxB Unplugged builds on that mission by bringing the festival’s energy into neighborhood parks with a smaller, hyper-local format that invites residents and visitors to experience Baltimore’s creative community up close.
The June 4 kickoff, featuring Warren Wolf, is part of Waterfront Week, a 10-day celebration of Baltimore’s harbor and waterfront communities. The broader celebration will include live music, wellness programming, cultural events, paddling experiences and family-friendly activities throughout the harbor.
For attendees, the series offers a chance to enjoy live performances against the backdrop of Baltimore’s waterfront while supporting local musicians, makers and small businesses. The setting at Bond Street Wharf will provide scenic views, community gathering space and a casual atmosphere for families, neighbors and music lovers.
Parking is available at the Caroline Street Garage, located at 805 S. Caroline Street. Rates are $6 after 5 p.m. or $9 for three hours.
BxB Unplugged will continue every Thursday in June at Bond Street Wharf, with all events free and open to the public.
