The new series will debut Thursday, June 18, 2026, with an opening reception featuring Baltimore-based visual artist Reginald Lewis. The exhibition will be hosted in LB Tavern at the Lord Baltimore Hotel and will remain on view throughout summer 2026.

The series adds another layer to the hotel’s growing arts programming. It will complement the Good Taste exhibition series in LB Bistro & Bakery, further positioning the historic downtown hotel as a place where hospitality, culture and creativity meet.

Owned by the Rubell family, who are internationally recognized for their contributions to the contemporary art world, the Lord Baltimore Hotel has long placed art at the center of its guest experience. The hotel’s permanent collection includes more than 2,500 works displayed throughout the property, allowing guests and visitors to encounter artwork throughout the historic space.

The inaugural exhibition with The Curation Department will feature Lewis’ work across painting, murals and public art. Known for bold visual storytelling, Lewis’ work often explores resilience, identity, culture, creativity and community. The exhibition is designed to invite guests to experience contemporary art in a setting that feels approachable and engaging.

Lewis’ connection to art began in Baltimore City Schools, where he first gained recognition through a citywide Preakness drawing competition. That early experience helped shape his understanding of the power of art and its ability to inspire, communicate and connect people.

A graduate of Morgan State University, Lewis brings a multidisciplinary perspective to his creative practice. His background in biology informs the way he sees structure, movement and possibility, while his artwork often bridges art, education and community storytelling.

Over the years, Lewis’ work has been featured in several prominent spaces, including the Reginald F. Lewis Museum and the Maryland State House. His murals can also be found in Baltimore, Queens and Brooklyn. One of his most recognized public works is a mural at the Enoch Pratt Free Library’s Hamilton Branch, which encourages young people to think beyond limitations and imagine wider possibilities for their futures.

Lewis’ work has also reached national audiences, including appearing in a Wiz Khalifa music video. Beyond his studio and public art practice, he remains active in community-centered projects and has collaborated with organizations such as the Baltimore Ravens and Foot Locker to support youth creativity.

The opening reception for The Curation Department Exhibition Series Featuring Reginald Lewis will take place Thursday, June 18, 2026, from 6 to 7:30 p.m. at LB Tavern inside the Lord Baltimore Hotel, located at 20 W. Baltimore Street in downtown Baltimore. The event is free and open to the public, and all artwork in the exhibition will be available for purchase.

The Lord Baltimore Hotel is known for its historic elegance and distinctive architecture in the heart of downtown. Guests are welcomed by features including a grand piano, oil paintings, a vaulted fresco ceiling and an expansive glass chandelier. Recognized by Historic Hotels of America as the “Best City Center Historic Hotel” and named one of the “10 Best Historic Hotels” by USA Today, the hotel includes 440 guest rooms and suites, more than 20,000 square feet of meeting and event space, and dining options including LB Tavern and LB Bistro & Bakery.

Listed on the National Register of Historic Places, the Lord Baltimore Hotel continues to use its historic setting as a platform for contemporary creativity, offering residents, visitors and guests new ways to experience art in Baltimore.
